Day 1 - Arrive Bogotá Welcome to Colombia! Upon arrival you can check into your hotel. Once you’ve settled in we plan for an orientation walk through La Candelaria, Bogotá's charming colonial neighbourhood. As you stroll the cobblestone streets, soak in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and admire the beautifully preserved buildings. In the evening, gather with the group for dinner at a local restaurant where your leader will recommend the best places to taste authentic Colombian cuisine Day 2 - Bogotá to Salento After an early breakfast, prepare to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Paloquemao Market. You will be guided through the colourful stalls filled with fresh produce and local delicacies, giving you a taste of Colombian culture. Later, take a short flight to the picturesque town of Salento, nestled in the heart of the coffee region. Upon arrival, meet a local guide to learn how to play "Tejo," a traditional Colombian sport that involves throwing metal discs at a target filled with gunpowder. After a fun afternoon, wander through Salento's charming streets and enjoy a delicious trout dinner, a local specialty.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 3 - Salento to Cocora Valley and Chinchiná Today, set off on an adventure to the stunning Cocora Valley, home to Colombia’s iconic wax palm trees. Board a jeep and take in the breathtaking scenery as you arrive. Choose to hike to Finca la Montana for panoramic views of Morrogacho Mountain, or enjoy a leisurely stroll in the valley. After your exploration, head to a traditional coffee estancia in Chinchiná for a two-night stay, where you’ll experience the rich coffee culture of Colombia firsthand.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 4 - Chinchiná Awaken your senses today with a guided tour of the coffee plantation. Discover the entire coffee-making process, from planting to roasting, and enjoy a delightful coffee tasting session. Learn how to prepare various types of coffee while savouring the rich flavours. Spend the afternoon relaxing amidst the beautiful green hills surrounding the estancia, taking in the tranquillity of the coffee zone.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 5 - Chinchiná to Medellín After breakfast, you'll be driven to Medellín, a city known for its innovation and resilience. The journey will take approximately six hours, offering picturesque views along the way. Once you arrive, the day is yours to explore. Check out local eateries and sample traditional arepas or indulge in the vibrant nightlife.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 6 - Medellín Today, embark on a profound journey through Medellín’s history with a Barrio Transformation Tour. Take the metro cable to explore some of the city's most populated neighbourhoods, guided by a local who will share stories of transformation and resilience. Afterward, return to Medellín and enjoy your free time, perhaps visiting a lively salsa bar to experience the local music scene.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 7 - Medellín Today is yours to explore Medellín at your leisure. Consider visiting the Museo de Antioquia to admire works by Fernando Botero or the Museo de Arte Moderno for a taste of contemporary art. If you're feeling adventurous, take a day trip to the colonial town of Santa Fe de Antioquia, famous for its picturesque architecture and lively market.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 8 - Medellín to Palomino Fly to Santa Marta this morning, followed by a scenic drive to the coastal town of Palomino. After settling in, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore. Lounge on the beach or venture into the nearby National Park for a refreshing hike. As the sun sets, treat yourself to a seafood dinner at one of the local restaurants, known for their delicious dishes made from fresh catch.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 9 - Palomino Enjoy another day in paradise! Spend your time at Tayrona National Natural Park, renowned for its stunning coves and lush rainforest. Alternatively, relax on the beach and soak in the Caribbean vibes. Tonight, indulge in local cuisine or unwind at a beach bar as you reflect on your adventures.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 10 - Palomino to Cartagena This morning, travel to Cartagena, a city steeped in history and charm. Here we can explore the beautifully preserved Old Town with its vibrant streets, historic churches, and magnificent fortifications.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 11 - Cartagena Today you might want to visit San Felipe de Barajas Castle, take a boat trip to the nearby Rosario Islands, or join a rum tasting session. All try the whole thing! In the evenings, consider a private sunset cruise to see the city transform as night falls.
**Meals Included:** Breakfast Day 12 - Depart Cartagena After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Colombia. Depending on your flight schedule, your leader will assist with your departure for the airport transfer. If you wish to extend your stay and continue exploring Cartagena, you might find many are also staying on. Global Drift will assist with additional accommodation arrangements.

Local Payment
Your Local Payment is collected by your group leader in cash at your group meeting on Day 1 of the trip and is part of your tour price. The money is spent locally on your tour.

Extra Accommodation
Pre and post trip accommodation is offered on most journeys pending availability. Please indicate in your enquiry if you require any rooms before or after your tour and the amount of nights requested.
For tours where the start and finish points are different w can assist you with your arrangements in both locations.
Single Traveller
Global Drift encourages interactive experiences for all of our travellers. As such we presume that you will be happy to share accommodation with a same sex person should you be travelling alone.
However, for those that would prefer a single room for the tour we do offer a single supplement. This also applies to single travellers who we are not able to match up.
It must be stated however that on many of our tours we stay in small family owned guesthouse accommodation. In certain instances with full groups the passenger combinations may not always allow you to enjoy a single room. Please keep this in mind when booking your single supplement. We will however, always do our best to accommodate you.
Please make your request for this service a minimum of 3 months prior to your journey.
The quoted extra payment is for the entire trip.
